Remember, The journey to school integration was a book of few words and many photo’s that told a historical story. The words were written as if a young African American child was speaking them. Each page has a different photo that express the emotions behind the words. The photos in this book were so very powerful. As an adult I took a lot away from this book. I believe children would benefit just as much from reading this or having it read to them. See the faces of those affected by segregation makes it more real for the reader. This would be a wonderful book for students of all ages. The photos in the book evoked such strong emotions and helped the reader receive the message the author was trying to give.
